October 15 Field Trip to the Eastern Shore

10/15/2022 08:30 - 15:30
Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel
Address: Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, Cape Charles, VA

The Williamsburg Bird Club’s October field trip will be to the Eastern Shore of Virginia on Saturday, October 15. In previous years, this trip has resulted in an extensive list of birds, many of which aren’t easily seen in the immediate Williamsburg area.

Ivan Munkres will lead our trip this year. We’ll make three planned stops:

We’ll meet at the overlook between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. This will be a short stop before heading to the nearby NWR. Our time at the NWR will depend on the birding. I expect the group will arrive at Kiptopeke late morning.

For those interested in carpooling, and / or available to drive others, please let me know of your intent. Carpoolers should meet at the Colony Square Shopping Center on Jamestown Road by 7:15 a.m., with departure shortly thereafter and definitely no later than 7:30 a.m.

If you are planning to stick around for lunch, you can expect to return to Williamsburg between 3 and 4 p.m.

The entrance fee to Kiptopeke State Park is $7 per vehicle. Those who have an annual state park pass should bring it with them.

And bring your EZ Pass for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. The round-trip toll with EZ Pass is $20.

Hope to see you on October 15th!
