Those who braved the early morning warm temperatures enjoyed great birds at New Quarter Park yesterday morning. The highlights were the immature Yellow-crowned Night Heron (spotted first by Marilyn Adair) and the Wild Turkeys (2 adults and 4 young) on the bank across Queen's Creek.
We welcomed back Paul McAllister, former Bird Club member who moved to Kentucky a few years ago. Also glad to have Bill Ferris with us, a member of the Hampton Roads Bird Club, who traveled up with the Adairs.
Many thanks to Bill Williams who led our walk. Bill entered the morning's 41 species into eBird and the list is below.
Here is a group photo I took at Shelter #2. Left to right: George Boyles, Marilyn Adair, Nelson Ensley, Joanne Andrews, Joanne Waterman, Bill Ferris, Sara Lewis, Cathy Millar, Virginia Boyles, John Adair, Paul McAllister, and Bill Williams.
Keep cool! See you next time.
